Leading voices in ocean literacy, naval defense, and climate action
NAVYGATE is an Information and Awareness Project which aims to increase the understanding of complex ocean-related topics in the context of the Navy.
NAVYGATE connects Maritime and Archipelagic Awareness Month (MANA Mo) with the Ocean Literacy efforts of the United Nations Ocean Decade, driven by the Philippine Navy.
Annual Event Series: NAVYGATE conducts from 2025 until the end of the Ocean Decade in 2030 one major event every MANA Mo (September) with varying topic highlights. The inaugural 2025 event focused on Climate Change.
NAVYGATE invited experts and fostered discussion and interaction with the audience, creating a platform for meaningful dialogue on critical ocean-related challenges.

In its first year, NAVYGATE started with a pilot to evaluate the format and impact. Each year NAVYGATE will focus on one core topic – but the underlying concept is to "connect the dots" inside the complex web of the polycrisis and raise awareness and understanding for the multiple challenges and deep interconnectedness around ocean topics and the role of the Navy in those.
The Philippine Navy is responsible for the naval defense of the Philippines – this goes beyond territorial challenges and includes the protection of the Philippine Seas. Examples are Disaster Response activities, the monitoring efforts towards illegal, unreported, and unregulated (IUU) fishing.
Annual events throughout the UN Ocean Decade
Inaugural event focused on climate change impacts on the Philippines' marine ecosystems and the Navy's role in climate resilience and disaster response.
From Ridge to Reef — the role of the Philippine Navy in defending Food Security for future generations.
Each year will address different critical ocean topics while maintaining the interconnected approach to ocean literacy, naval defense, and marine protection.
